Christen: 147.5 - I lost a half pound!
This week kind of sucked. We only worked out once. My eatng habits were not much different than normal (although they weren't horrible to begin with). We'll see how this next week goes.
Allan: 189.5 - Half a pound down
This week I slacked off, only worked out once with Christen. I tried to eat a lot better, but it was not very portion friendly. But we'll keep trying, after all our goal is to become healthy.

Week One
This is our first weigh-in! (We will be weighing ourselves weekly at the same time - Monday nights around nine - to keep it consistent.)
Christen: This week was okay... we did work out three times together, although I think we should've gone another time or two. I definitely ate differently - more healthy - than usual. We did splurge a couple times, eating out at Olive Garden Friday and we had a family dinner on Saturday so we pigged out and had an apple tart (yay!) and brownies (YUM but not yay). But I did pretty well at incorporating more fruits and veggies.
Christen's weight: 148
I lost two pounds!
Allan: This week was ok, I enjoyed working out with Christen. I broke the healthy eating habits a few times. I gained a bit of weight but hopefully it is good weight. I am not giving up, I will keep trying, I enjoy jogging and walking on the treadmill.
Allan's Weight: 190
.5 pounds gained, but I think it might be do to my weight lifting oriented workouts.

The Beginning
Hello. We are Christen and Allan. We have been together for almost a year now. We have both recently noticed that we are gaining weight and are choosing to do something about it! This is our blog about our journey to being fit. (:

Holy crap. This is the first time in my life I've weighed this much! I had never even seen that number on the scale until tonight. Honestly, I don't think I look much different than I did a couple years ago (aka 25 pounds ago), but I can tell because my jeans are too tight. :( Sweats for life! Haha. I was chubby as a little girl, but thinned out after puberty. I've always had extra fat, but never considered myself to be a fat person. But, I have never been a fit person. Gym was always an issue for me throughout K-12, and I've never been into sports or physically coordinated. I want to be a healthy and fit person, which is why I am striving to get into a routine of exercising regularly as well as incorporating more fruits and veggies in my diet, less sweets, and smaller portions. I want to think before I eat, instead of out of boredom. I want to be conscious of the types of foods I am nourishing my body with, and treat my body well by giving it the nutrients it needs.
My overall goal is to lose 25 pounds, jog/run a mile straight (on a track, not a treadmill or elliptical; this is something I've never been able to do; I've always had to start power walking..), and just feel and look better! (: I don't have a time goal for this, we'll just see how it goes.

Well here I find myself starting a great goal with my girlfriend. In the past years of my life I have dealt with some issues with my self esteem; these issues came through some personal issues, and I unknowingly hid some of my feelings by eating them away. As a child I was told that I have always been a bit of a bigger kid. A lot of it started with some poor nutrinional habits brought on by my grandmother; in the later years my mom worked very hard to help me eat better and had a relatively good amount of success, but that was not enough because I still kept on eating unhealthy foods. Throughout my junior high I was at a point were I would eat plenty, but not healthy enough and eating entirely too much... This continued on through high school and during this time my eating habits involved a lot of eating out because I was making my own money, and had my own transportation and all of the junk food I ate really added up to a point that on my senior year of high school I wore a pant size of 38 which later became 40 and I weighed between 230-240 lbs, because of all this my self steem and my self worth were at their lowest. I didn't socialize much, I didn't date, instead I was always playing video games, working, eating, and sleeping after I graduated. When I started college I started feeling that I wanted to better myself and after a few semesters I took a nutrion class thinking it would be an easy A, the reality was that it was a very difficult class, but when I learned the importance of having a healthy diet and lifestyle, I pushed myself and a few months after taking that class I became a whole new me I weighed about 180 lbs and I felt much better. Fast forward to now and I am dating a beautiful woman who has helped me better myself in some ways. But because of my love for chips, Mountain Dew, and eating out my weight is out of control once again; however this time it is different because I am now working to achieve a goal of regaining a healthy weight, healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle thanks to her, and I know that together we will become our better selves. My goal for this project is to weigh about 160-180 with a toned apperance, and a pant size of 32.
Our Plan:
Together, we are going to go to the gym at least three times a week, including weight training and at least 30 minutes of cardio. We are going to incorporate more physical activities into the time we spend with each other, such as talking walks, playing frisbee, hiking, swinging, dancing, yoga, etc. We will be accountability partners to each other for what we eat, and make sure that we are making healthy choices, such as eating less sweets and junk food, more fruits and vegetables, drink lots of water, and having smaller portions but eating more often to up our metabolism. We look forward to keeping each other on track and emotionally healthy as well! (:
